In a grammar examination, on the section of sentence transformations there was this exercise:
After a serious foot injury that ruined my future as a ballet proffessional dancer, i choose this career.
Word to use: NOT
If I --- serious foot injury, I would not have chosen this career.
Now, the right answer was if i---hadn't have a---
But i answered it the next way: If i-- was not to have a--
I know that the answer i gave was terribly wrong, but is there any way i could justify it????????????

I don't think you've copied the exact text of the exam. There are several issues with the grammar in your question. For instance ballet proffesional dancer rather than professional ballet dancer. But more problematic is what you've relayed as the right answer. It's not clear what the exact expectations are for an answer, but hadn't have a is ungrammatical in every sentence I can think of putting it—so that can't have been the right answer.

Why would you justify an answer that you know to be very wrong? I would have said the simple "If I had a serious foot injury, I would not have chosen this career. "
