What English or loan words are there for the feeling that things are OK with frustration that things can't get better?
There's words like 'ennui', but it has its root in the opposite (hatred). Whereas 'apathy', with its root in 'without' 'suffering', actually means the opposite.
Maybe apathy about the past and ennui about the future cover this feeling well. But I don't know of any words that describe those two orientations, and I'm guessing it's not unusual.
