I hope such readers will reach the opinion that the deep significance and value of these ideas will reward the arduous mental effort they demand (of the reader).

Here's how I'd rewrite that sentence into simpler sentences:

I hope you've been persuaded that these ideas are worth learning. They require a good amount of intellectual struggle (i.e., you might have to think a lot to understand them). However, they are profound and valuable enough to outweigh that intellectual struggle.

No offense intended, but that so-called English sentence is unintelligible. I have no idea what it means. Profundity means profound I suppose (but no one says „profundity“ outside some University I suppose and then only in writing, never in speaking) and matching it with the „value of an idea“ is bizarre soundings, and very unnatural and confusing. What does it mean? And „repay the intellectual struggle they require“ means what?? That doesn`t make any sense.

If this quote came out of some book somewhere, it´s highly technical or philosophical language no one would ever say and rarely, if ever, see written and 99% of English speaker would have no idea what it means. Translate it first to real English and then maybe it can be explained.

    • Profundity: great depth of insight or knowledge; great depth or intensity of a state, quality, or emotion; a statement or idea that shows great knowledge or insight. Profundity is a noun, while profound is an adjective or a literary noun.

Please stop writing non-answers that make patently false claims about how people use the English language. The sentence is perfectly understandable and does not contain any words that an average native English should struggle with. It’s neither technical nor philosophical; it just happens to make use of non-colloquial vocabulary, which is often a mark of good writing.
